We have been awarded a $7,500 grant by the International Transport Workers Seafarers Trust and the North American Maritime Ministry Association, to hire a summer intern for 2025.The internship is available for any high school graduate (18 years old) or older, who lives in the Port Lavaca area, and is interested in exploring the maritime world, and the world of seafarer welfare. 

Requirements:

i. Ability to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential

ii. Possess a drivers license

iii. Have an interest in the maritime industry and seafarer welfare

iv. Ability to ascend and descend steep gangways

v. Complete the Ship Welfare Visitor Online Course under the supervision of seafarers' center personnel

vi. Be comfortable interacting with seafarers from the US and from around the world

vii. Participate in online meeting with other interns throughout North America
